We offer a comprehensive array of restorative & therapeutic massages

Deep Tissue Massage:

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles. It is best for people who have chronic pain or contracted areas such as a stiff neck, upper back, lower back, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the strokes are the same as those used in classic massage therapy, but the movement and pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension. By focusing on the areas of tension and pain, the massage therapist is able to reach the sub-layer of muscles and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding the muscles).

Swedish/Relaxation Massage:

Swedish massage (also known as relaxation) uses a series of elongated, continuous strokes, along with kneading and cupping motions. This type of massage is meant to relax and soothe. The pressure is moderate-medium in terms of how deep your therapist will work your muscles. Clients who prefer medium to light pressure generally schedule a relaxation massage.

Hot Stone Massage:

Hot Stone Treatment uses natural basalt stones heated in a warm bath and then applied in a Swedish-style massage. The deep, penetrating heat relieves soreness, stiffness, and stress as the stones glide smoothly over tired muscles.

Sports Massage:

Sport Massages are geared towards someone who is preparing for an athletic event or recovering from a workout. This type of massage uses faster Swedish strokes meant to invigorate making it ideal for: before or after an athletic event or exercise regimen, or to treat a specific sore spot or injury. It helps with recovery time and aids in preparing the muscles before the event. The strokes may include wringing, squeezing, and stretching of the muscles.

Maternity Massage:

Maternity Massage is a traditional Swedish massage using side-lying techniques and multiple body pillows for support. While the entire body is massaged, special attention is given to the legs and lower back to promote circulation and ease comfort.

NOTE: we do not perform maternity massages on clients who are in their first trimester. You must be on your second or third trimester to have a maternity massage at Healthy Balance Massage Center.
